Rainbowstar trotted to the old oak tree just north of her camp. The wind blew silently around her. The old tree seemed to be looking down at her, glaring at the siamese cat with anger. Rainbowstar couldn't help feeling disturbed by the silence. This was were Blackheart, the cruel warrior, had attacked with his band of rogues just moons ago. Weakly she managed to look at the scarred marks on the tree from where he had tried to claw her. She grew enraged at herself, how could she have let that horrible rogue leave her sight?She had noticed his strange behavior before the attack, but now had witnessed the awful deeds he had performed. And for what? To be the leader. He had failed, Rainbowstar hadn't even lost a life. But still.... Suddenly Rainbowstar felt a presence, something watching her. Braveley, she arched her back to attack. The ominous wind had brought something, and she was prepared for it.

Expecting the worst, she only saw her apprentice, Rosepaw. "Oh." She was surprised to see the young cat so far away from the camp. "Rosepaw", she questioned, "what are you doing here? "We're being attacked!" the cat shrieked. It flicked it's tail and ran off. Rainbowstar flashed after her. At the camp, she was horrified. The rougues were back. She leaped in and began to kick and fight. She slashed one rougue on the muzzle and another on the ear. The battle was so intense she wasen't sure who was winning. She spotted Blackheart clawing away from another cat. At last the battle ended, and Rainbowstar checked everyone. Nobody seemed too hurt. " I'll destroy Blackheart if I have too!" She screamed into the night.

Rainbowstar couldn't understand why her brother had turned traitor on the entire clan only a moon ago. They had been getting along fine, no sister vs. brother rivalry. But ever since she had become deputy his feelings toward her became hostile. When Lightstar had lost her life, Rainbowstar took her place. The disgusted Blackheart turned his back on the clan and stalked off into the woods, never to be seen since the first fight. Rainbowstar remembered these thoughts sadly. She almost wished she had never become deputy, but her brother had always wanted to do better than her. She felt like this was the best revenge of all. "Climbing onto the Highrock, she cleared her throat and began her speech.

"Cats of Thunderclan" she cried, " gather here now." "As you know there have been many recent attacks on Thunderclan by Blackheart and his friends, their time is up! I am tired of these attacks, as are you" she hissed, " it is time to take him down!" A chorus of cat's approval echoed through the clearing. "And, " continued Rainbowstar, " I want to make the newest warrior here, Rosepaw, step forward please." " I want to bestow upon you your true warrior name, from now on you will be known as Rosestorm." Rosestorm looked so happy, and the croud began chanting " Rosestorm, Rosestorm." Happily, Rainbowstar leaped off the rock.
Later on that evening, rainbowstar thought sadly of her brother again, she remembered the day they had been made warriors, Rainbowdrop and Blackheart. "Oh," she thought, "I wonder if it ever will be the same again."

Rainbowstar dreamt that night. She found herself alone near Fourtrees. This was where she usually met her old ancestors, and where she had met them for her nine lives. But that was over, and she was alone. She noticed something looming toward her. "Lightstar!" she thought happily. the magnificent old Thunderclan leader had come to visit her. "Oh, Lightstar, " she purred, " I miss you." The old leader looked at her with such wisdom in her eyes that Rainbowstar felt like nothing compared to her. "Rainbowstar, " began the old she-cat, " I know why you are here. You want to stop your brother's plotting once and for all. He is extremely jealous of you Rainbowstar." Rainbowstar flicked her tail impatientily. " I know that, " she meowed, " He has always been. But I thought he would grow out of it." Lighstar had no expression on her face. " Rainbowstar, " she began, " I made you my deputy because I knew you could do what was right. Your brother is so obsessed that he is trying to track you. You have to stop him, or great destruction will come to the forest." Rainbowstar watched her begin to fade. " A great evil is lurking, and it is not your brother only. You must stop him now. " Lightstar vanished.
Rainbowstar awoke the next morning. The question floated in her head, "If not my brother, who or what is the great evil?"
