Name: Fawnstep
Gender: Female
Age: Three summers
Rank: Medicen Cat
Clan: RiverClan
Kin: Thunderwolf(sister, warrior of ShadowClan)
Kits: None, and never wants any.
Appearance: Picture URL: i5.photobucket.com/albums/y177/peofun612/FawnstepOC.jpg
A very pretty she-cat with a light brown pelt with darker flecks and a cream face and chest. Always very slim and small because of her strange diet. Her claws are usually dull because she uses them very sparingly and forgets to sharpen them. She has deep amber eyes that turn golden in the right light.
Personality: Fawnstep is blessed with infinate patience and kindness. She feels compassion for every living creature, predator and prey. She perfers not to eat fresh-kill, instead feasting on berries and herbs. Although Fawnstep hates to fight, perfering to heal her fellow cats, she will unsheath her claws if she has to. She is a quick learner and loves to explore and discover new things.
Fawnstep always had a very close relationship with StarClan. Sometimes she can even probe into the minds of other cats. Of course she can't read their thoughts exactly, but she can tell what they are feeling. It has helped her root out traitors among the Clan. She never keeps secrets and is very open and honest with any cat. She is very easy to make friends with; even birds and butterflies love to be in her company! She is notorious for having her den filled with injured animals in den, nursing them back to health. She doesn't even try to hide them any more. The are often flocks of birds in the trees around her clearing, and she sometimes talks to them. They chirp back, as if they can really understand the strange little whistles and tweets she makes.
The only thing Fawnstep is afraid of is helping a queen give birth. She knows how to do it and she knows all the right herbs, but she can't help but feel axious-especially with the way her mother had died. Other than that, she isn't really afraid of violence or blood, she simply resents them. Fawnstep tries to love everything and every cat, but the one Clan she simply cannot stand is ShadowClan. Medicen cats are supposed to be above Clan rivalry, but this is a personal matter. The only time she has ever gotten snappy or irritated with any cat is with a ShadowClan cat, and usually the cat had only just said 'hi' to her.
Fawnstep has never felt the urge to get close to any cat. And why should she, she's a medicen cat! She has never been tempted with going against StarClan. How could she love a mate when she loves every creature in the forest as much as any other cat would love their mate?
History: Fawnstep and her sister, Thunderwolf, were both born to RiverClan. Her mother, who had refused to move to the nursery even when it was certain she was about to have her kits, went into labor when she was out on a border patrol . The patrol sent an apprentice racing back to fetch help, but it didn't come in time. Her two kits were delivered fine, but their mother died shortly after. It had simply been too late for her.
Kithood
Fawnkit, named for her light brown pelt and darker flecks, was the polar opposite of her sister. Thunderkit could never sit still and took every chance she got to get out of the nursery, charging all about and getting under every cat's paws. Fawnkit would sit at the entrance of the nursery and calmly survey the ensuing chaos. She never lifted a paw to help or stop her sister unless she was hurting herself or some other cat.
Fawnkit spent most of her time in the medicen cat's den, helping her sort herbs and care for sick cats whenever extra help was needed. She loved being able to care for sick cats and ease their suffering; probably because she had failed to save her mother. But she wasn't sure she could take on the responsibility of being the medicen cat. After all, Fawnkit had never had dreams of StarClan, and her mind wandered too easily for her to focus on even the most minor tasks. So when it was her time to be apprenticed, she didn't ask to be a medicen cat. She decided to just sit back and see how things worked out.
Apprenticeship
Fawnpaw was possibly the most impossible apprentice to work with. She despised battle training and flinched away whenever her mentor came at her, refusing to fight back. She would come back to the camp bruised and shivering, but none the wiser about fighting techniques. She couldn't bring herself to take another creature's life, even to feed the Clan. She was easily distracted by birds or butterflies, and would sometimes stop while on a patrol and make little whistling and chirrping noises to the birds in the trees. Talking to birds! That was not something warrior apprentices did. One time she over heard her mentor talking to the Clan leader, calling her 'as useless as a newborn kit'.
Her confidence shattered, Fawnpaw became very depressed and pessamistic. Not even Thunderpaw, who had always made her feel better, could cheer her up now. Especially not when Thunderpaw was becomeing such a talented warrior. Her mentor always told her what a great job she did. Her mentor never called her a useless kit.
One day Fawnpaw was patroling along the river with her sister and a couple of warriors. A squirrel jumped out of the bushes and hid in the bushes close to the river. Thunderpaw shot out after it. As she pounced on it and killed it, the ground under her paws crumbled a bit and she slipped fell into the river. Fawnpaw was the first to react. She jumped in immediately and grabbed Thunderpaw by the scruff. She managed to pull her to the shore of the river, where the slope wasn't as steep as where Thunderpaw had fallen in. Fawnpaw remembered every herb from when she had helped in the medicen den as a kit and knew exactly what to do. For once, her mentor was impressed. When they returned to camp, Fawnpaw was made into a medicen cat apprentice.
Fawnstep was many times better as a medicen cat than she ever would have been as a warrior. Remembering the look and smell of the herbs came easily with her, as long as what they did. She never got distracted by the happenings of the forest while she was working in the medicen den, and she didn't have to hunt any prey. Her mentor showed her what berries and herbs were edible so she became a vegitarian. And although her mentor didn't approve of everything she did-Such as when she wasted prescious herbs to heal an injured rabbit that had been attacked by a hawk-Fawnstep knew she was finally doing something to help the Clan. More than she could have done as a warrior.
When her mentor was killed tragically in a ShadowClan raid, Fawnpaw knew she was ready to become a full-fledged medicen cat.
Medicen Cathood
Fawnstep always shared a very close bond with StarClan. Even when she had been a warrior apprentice, she'd sometimes have dreams to predict the future. Now as a medicen cat this bond was very helpful. She is very careful when interpreting signs and because of this she has never misinterpreted one.
Thunderwolf's betrayal was a hard blow to Fawnstep. When she discovered her sister meeting a ShadowClan warrior during the nights, she was furious. But she loved her sister enough not to tell. She kept the secret for two moons. Then, one night, her sister didn't come back. She followed her scent trail across the border and found her close to the ShadowClan camp, looking battered and tired. Fawnstep interrogated her sister furiously, and Thunderwolf told her that she was joining ShadowClan.
Fawnstep has never gotten over this, and she doubts she ever will. She denies that she ever had a sister, telling some cats that she was born an only child. Sometimes she says her sister died with her mother, or died of greencough as a kit. Whatever story she uses, the point is that to Fawnstep, Thunderwolf died the day she fell in love with that ShadowClan cat. Although she still loves her sister, she cannot approve of her discisions, and so instead acts as if she doesn't have a sister.
